Eureka Reptile Refuge is a small scale reptile rescue in Eureka, California operated by a local couple. We have 8 bearded dragons that are permanent residents of the 8, 7 were rescues. Although remember rescue can range anywhere from a home that didn't feel they handled these creatures enough to people who had absolutely no idea how to care for a reptile. Sometimes people move and their landlords won't let them take their pets with them, sometimes they were an unasked for gift, sometimes people lose their jobs, etc.

If anyone needs a male beardie they have three sub-adult males at fin n' feather in a small tank together so they really need to find homes quickly!

We take in surrenders, if you are out of the area you can contact us and we can make arrangements for you to ship your reptile to us if it's in good enough health. Any surrenders we cannot take we will still help you to find a new home for your reptile (or amphibian.)

We currently have no adoptions available but will update as soon as we do!

As far as our adoptions go, we will ask for a small adoption fee (nothing too hefty) to insure you can afford to care for the animal. Although in the cases where we had to pay to rescue the animal from it's previous owners then we will ask for the same amount we paid for the adoption fee.

Also donations of reptile equipment, enclosures or of prey items such as crickets, mealworms, etc. would be much appreciated.

Reptiles, amphibians, ferrets, cats, dogs, rabbits, chinchillas, rats, mice, guinea pigs, horses, sugar gliders, helping and saving animals.

We also love reading, nature, the SCA, beading, sewing, crafting and most importantly our 6 month old son.

8 bearded dragons and 1 salamander.

We have 3 males, 4 females, and a juvie too young to tell.

Our first male is Eragon, he is a sandfire X hypopastel/chris red/german giant/redphase. He was born on May 15th 07 and is 17" long.

Our second male is Prometheus, he is a super tangerine X sandfire. He is approx. 5 or 6 months old and 11" long. He has an itty bitty tail nip.

Our third male is Zeus, he looks to be a normal and is approx. 8 years old and has not been measured yet but he has a pretty large tail nip.

Our first female was my first rescue and I got her over 5 years ago. Her name is Cricket. She is a normal and is about 8 years old as well. She is 17" long.

Our second female is Athena. She is also a normal and is about 13 months give or take and is 13" inches long. She also has a healed tail nip.

Our third girl is Pandora she is a red/gold X sandfire and is Eragon's half sister. They have the same sire. She is was born June 26 07 and is around 11" long.

Our fourth female is Cleopatra, and is a german giant. She is a monster. I would guess she is two or three years old and she is 20.5" long. She looks around 500 grams!!!

And our baby beardie, is actually just tiny due to poor husbandry with it's previous owner. Because of it's tiny stature I'm not sure I can accurately sex this dragon even though it is 5 or 6 months old it is only about 5 or 6 inches in length. If it can be accurately sexed than it's a female. We haven't named this beardie yet because we don't know its sex.

And we do not know what sex our salamander is but his name is Montag.
