School has been keeping me ever so busy. Lots of updates, and I will go through those. This semester, I moved into an apartment! Woot! It actually ended up probably being less animal room because when I was in the dorm, I had the whole thing to myself. Here I can only keep them in my room. But Im making it work. I was cleaning Rocket's cage today, and as I put things back together, they didn't seem to want to go together very easily. Rather than continue to fight, I decided to try a new cage design. Here are the essential features of this design. Time will tell whether either one of us likes the new design as much.

The news has been full of stories about how things have changed in Louisiana during the five years since Hurricane Katrina. I live far enough away from the coast that Hurricane Katrina did not have a huge effect on me immediately. On the other hand, the hurricane may have had a lasting effect after all.

The old saying is "Don't count your chicks before they're hatched." In the snake hobby, maybe the equivalent saying should be "Don't count your rats before they're swallowed." Even so, I'm going to take a chance and count a some rodents. Specifically, I'm counting eight rodents and seven snakes for what should be the first time this year.
