Here is his story. This is why we do what we do. On November 29, 2011 we received a call from a local animal shelter. They had a "huge monitor" that needed to be picked up. We rushed down to the shelter there we saw a 4 1/2 foot black throat monitor. This monitor was about 20 LBS under weight. The shavings in the bottom of the cage had been in there so long that they had turned to dirt. The Reptile was outside in the 40 degree weather. The employees never cleaned the cage.
