DATING STATUS: Married

Hi, I’m Mark…49 years old. Born in California, raised in Texas, schooled in Utah, and now 24 years in Chelsea, Michigan. I worked for Pfizer for 20 years until they closed the site that I worked at, so I started a consulting business and now employ 8 other Pfizer refugees.

I love animals, especially reptiles. I think that conservation of our endangered species is extremely important, and I’m very concerned that so many animal species are declining so quickly.

I love my wife, my dog, my herps, and riding my motorcycles. I have a Yamaha Royal Star Venture and a Suzuki V-Strom DL-1000.

About Us:
My wife, Jane and I have been married for 22 years. We don’t have any kids, but lots, and lots of animals. We both love animals, the outdoors, and motorcycles.

I am President of the Board of the Great Lakes Zoological Society, a 501(c)(3) non-profit. The Great Lakes Zoological Society (GLZS) is currently working toward creating a destination conservation and Rescue Center in Ann Arbor , MI. The conservation center's walk through exhibits will have a focus on reptiles, amphibians, birds, fish, and invertebrates. Phase one involves fitting out the current 6100 square foot facility with a classroom, some retail space and 5000 square feet of exhibit space. The GLZS will need to secure enough funds to finance this ambitious project and open the doors by July 1, 2011. As the Center begins to secure additional funds through donations and grants, other phases will be implemented to expand the Center and add conservation and captive breeding programs. We currently employ a curator and two keepers; and we have a four member Scientific Advisory Board.

The goals of the Conservation and Rescue Center are four fold:
1. An educational destination for the school kids. Bringing the kids to the Center is less stressful on the animals than taking the animals to the schools.
2. Captive hatching & breeding conservation programs. We are actively seeking funding, but have begun captive breeding projects for Varanus Salvadorii, Testudo Horsfieldii, Dracaena guianensis, and Heloderma horridum xasperatum. We hope to get involved with captive hatching and head-starting indigenous turtle species.
3. Rescue and release of injured indigenous reptiles.
4. Rescue and placement of unwanted and neglected reptiles.

The Center's Curator, John Lebert has successfully bred 27 species of reptiles and amphibians and 15 species of exotic birds; including boas, pythons, salamanders, monitors & other lizards, macaws, cockatoos, softbills, conures, and various other Psitticines (parrots, hookbills).
