I am one half of Hopeful Monsters, a small colubrid breeder located in Columbus, OH. What's a hopeful monster?

"'Hopeful Monster' is the colloquial term used in evolutionary biology to describe an event of instantaneous-speciation, saltation, or systemic mutation, which contributes positively to the production of new major evolutionary groups."

We focus mainly on corn snakes (plasma and Okeetees in particular) but have developed an interest in kings as well. We are almost always at the Columbus show, so if you see us, say hi!

Every animal with a name has a story behind it, and they're usually pretty good. Feel free to ask us about it some time (and remind Kris to wash his hands after eating mu shu beef!)

This year we have planned an encore performance from Ra and Sekhmet (they threw a beautiful clutch of aberrant sunglow motley babies last year) as well as snows, Okeetees, and maybe even some baby Mex-Mexes!

I LOVE Western hoggies and would really like to get into them. Unfortunately, my fiancé says no. Something about not wanting to take me to the hospital due to anaphylaxis? I think he's just being a wuss.
