My name is Jimmy Johnson.
Some may also know me as Draybar.
I am 49 years old and have been into reptiles as long as I can remember.
I am married to a wonderful woman named Patti.
Patti has been very understanding and has accepted a house full of reptiles with a smile.
I am a supervisor in a small steel fabrication plant.
I love fishing and try to spend as much time on the lake as work, family and all these darn snakes will allow. Although I love all forms of fishing I would have to put bass and catfish at the top of my list of favorite species.
I have always enjoyed field herping. It's hard to find the time but when I do it's a great feeling finding and photographing reptiles in the wild.
I also enjoy zoos and aquariums and can never spend enough time at either.
Reading is another joy I can never seem to find the time for..I enjoy horror, fantasy and mystery/adventure and I also enjoy magazines such as "Reptiles" and "North American Fisherman".
MY REPTILE INTERESTS
I have interests in almost all reptiles and amphibians from tree frogs to bearded dragons but I must honestly state my number one interest is snakes.
I love keeping them, watching them, photographing and breeding them.
To reiterate what I wrote above, I have always enjoyed field herping. It's definitely a great feeling to find and photograph reptiles in the wild.
I feel the observation of reptiles in their natural environment can give you a better insight into their captive requirements
GENERAL INTERESTS
I stated most of my interests above such as fishing and reading but I also enjoy photography.
Now, I say I am interested in photography but it's not so much into the camera, equipment and technical side of photography as much as just capturing what I see on film. Whether it's my family, my dogs, cats, snakes or our surrounding flora and fauna.
MY ANIMALS
I currently have 65 snakes in my collection. Twenty five pure corn snakes, twenty five corn snake/emoryi rat snake mixes including creamsicles, motley creamsicles, stripe creamsicles and cinnamons.
One ultramel which is a grey rat/corn cross, seven bairds rat snakes and seven emoryi rat snakes.
These numbers can and will change on a regular basis.
Eggs are starting to drop so these numbers are going to go way up in late June and early July ('09)
As well as the snakes we also have...
7 cats
and
6 dogs

Female bairds rat snake yet to lay...overdue at this time
At this time there really isn't anything out there that I feel I really need or want.
There are a few morphs, of corns, I have an interest in and will probably add to my collection over time but I don't necessarily have a wish list at this time.
My wish would be more towards producing what would be considered exceptional examples of the snakes I am working with.
The best stripe creams or motley creams out there.
A certain look to my ghosts or okeetees that may set them just enough apart from the rest to make people think...hmmm...those ARE nice.
I don't really work with what a lot of people would consider the higher end morphs I just tend to stick with the animals that caught my eye and were acquired as pets.
Also combining traits in my collection like taking my best cinnamons and working towards motley and stripe cinnamons..etc etc
I never accept friend requests if I can't go to a person's site and find out a little about them. I like to know something about that person before I put them on my friends list. I'm not a snob and I'm not picky, I just want to know.
So, if you get a friends refusal from me it is most likely due to your profile being locked.
I seriously wonder why you would come to a public site and make your page private. Doesn't quite make sense to me.
Hi, sent you a friend requiest.....hope to get to know you better! Love your gallery (ohh and that wasn't a pick up get to know you better...d'oh! lol) (Happily committed....not in the insane way)
hI I was reading the post below. I agree I wish we could get more activity here in the forums...maybe we can get more traffic here on our forums..if more people start posting..people really into corns..like you and other breeders...also maybe since people comment each other..that tends to cut down on their posts ..also their are all the subgroups...and blogs..LOL...I like this website and would like to see more classifieds too..I have learned alot by lurking in the forums at ks.for the last 3 years...but now I spend more time here...and also visit cornsnakes.com ..I have seen your name and snakes around nice stuff...
I guess I will just have to drop into the forum every couple of days to post. Maybe sooner or later I can get some discussions started.
You are right, though, It's sometimes just easier to message someone directly and forgo the forums.
have a nice weekend
thanks for writing back..you have a nice weekend too.Brrrrrrrrr ....keep warm...stay in the snake room!!!!!
They won't be ready to breed until next season but I think I am beginning to like Lavas.
I think I will work towards motley lavas.
They should be nice. I love what motley does to almost every morph.
It seems like I saw one somewhere.
I used to spend a lot of time over at cornsnake but the continued bickering and "I know more then you do" bull just got on my nerves.
It was amazing how many instant experts there were over there.
I'd see someone come in as a newbie, ask the typical newbie questions (which is fine) and two months later they would be "experts" blasting people for asking newbie questions. Never ceased to amaze and irritate me.
That and the continued pull of every thread away from it's original topic to personal attacks and chest pounding.
sorry to ramble
Jimmy
yeah that annoys me too. when someone is new and hates on other new people. at least i;ve owned a corn for over 10 years!!! gertrude has got to be around 17-18 years old. she was an adult when we got her... and 3 feet long. and that was when i was in 7th grade i think... heh... Stephen and tim have awesome lavas. i have a friend here who has lavas and het lavas. she even has a lavabloodred. (i think her screen name on here is sharon) but stephen is working on sunkissed lavas.. i cant WAIT to see those!! I dont have any lavas yet... i have 2 hypos who could pass as one, but once you look at the belly checkers... NOPE. :) glad you are ok. its getting down to 5 degrees tonight here.... brrrr
