I am director of a project for the Florida International Teaching Zoo. I have worked for the zoo since just before 2000.
After a few years of owning my own reptile store, a friend and I decided to attempt to optimize the reptile export industry from the country of origin.
Little did we know what a complex problem we were attempting to fix, and four years later, we are finally ready to move forward with captive breeding projects in the country.

Through symbiotic partnerships with Indigenous Communities of the world, Project Green Jungle will utilize a multi-functional breeding/rehab facility for wildlife that will provide valuable conservation solutions to the region's environmental and financial obstacles. No other project offers a cure by using what has historically been the cause. We strive to provide a positive influence on the wildlife trade, as well as bring a new wave of thought to the global conservation table by implementing original solutions to a an ever-changing world.

Our interests act as the catalyzing focal points of our project goals:
1. Our captive wildlife program will provide a wealth of much needed data on the
wildlife native to the Caribbean Slope of Costa Rica as well as capacity building
income for the surrounding human participants.
2. Our Field Station provides a research environment with functioning lab equipment,a library of research and reference books, as well as internet and communications gear.
3. We will provide rental field equipment to eco-travelers, visitors, researchers, and academia.
4. Through venom extraction we will provide antivenin for regional hospitals and
clinics via a venom co-op.
5. Capacity building programs will be discussed and implemented with local Bribri villagers, and other residents of the communities surround our field station.
6. Our wildlife re-introduction program will both re-populate wild areas and establish land trusts to preserve the land around our field station.

Multiple species of Frogs, Snakes, lizards and invertebrates, as well as mammals such as Patas Monkeys, South American Jaguars, Grey-armed Macacques, Vervet Monkeys, Giraffes, Rhinos, Parrots, Fish, other African Hoofstock, and Crocodilian.
|
|
As our business grows, we foresee the need to expand our field station. This has been noted in our plans and the facility is built so we can expand relatively easily and on a tight budget by utilizing traditional Bribri building techniques, and common sense captive wildlife enclosures.
The Project has had interest from at least three separate countries on different continents that would like to take part in programs just like these. After our pilot program is established, a committee will be formed to actively research our expansion options. Each added location will allow Project Green Jungle to assist an even greater number of Indigenous cultures create healthy growth, furthering the ultimate goal of Project Green Jungle.
